Facts

Country: UK
Industry: The arts
Issues
The Serpentine Gallery sought the assistance of Fenwick Elliott with the redevelopment of the Magazine Building in Kensington Gardens, London, as a new exhibition space.
The client needed a partner able to assist with procurement options, insurance arrangements and contracting. Strict budget caps made the project especially challenging.
Fenwick Elliott assisted Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP in negotiating a development agreement with Royal Parks, the landowner, as well as appointing professional services and trade contractors.
Solutions
Fenwick Elliott provided day-to-day project support for the Serpentine Gallery, which is project managing the scheme.
Ongoing legal and financial advice has helped progress the project in a far more efficient manner than would otherwise have been possible.
Speed was required when the lead designer needed appointing in time for an urgent press announcement. With Fenwick Elliott on board, the whole process was managed within 48 hours.
Benefits
The gallery has benefited from Fenwick Elliott’s expertise on a pro bono basis. The provision of day-to-day project support means that the Gallery team are gaining new skills which will serve them well in the future.
