Giuseppe Franco Senior Associate

Giuseppe is an Italian qualified lawyer with experience in international arbitration and litigation before the Italian courts. 

Prior to relocating to London to pursue the MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at King’s College, Giuseppe worked at an international law firm in Milan where he advised and represented clients operating in the commercial, construction, energy and insurance sectors in several arbitration and court proceedings.

Specialist expertise

Examples of Guiseppe's expertise include:

  • assisting a multinational joint venture in the drafting of cost and extension of time claims under the FIDIC Yellow Book in relation to the construction of a motorway in Eastern Europe;
  • advising a Belgian charterer on claims arising from a charterparty in connection with the construction of an offshore wind farm;
  • advising a Japanese contractor in the assessment of possible cost adjustment claims in relation to construction of a coal-fired power plant in East Asia under the FIDIC Pink Book;
  • assisting an English contractor in a TCC litigation and related pre-trial mediation;
  • representing an Italian EPC contractor in parallel dispute board and ICC arbitration proceedings under the FIDIC Silver Book, concerning the construction of a dam and hydroelectric power plant in Sub-Saharan Africa;
  • representing an Italian EPC contractor in an ICC arbitration involving claims arising from the construction of a geothermal power plant in West Asia;
  • representing an Italian-French oil and gas joint venture in an ICC arbitration concerning the sale of a subsidiary operating in the LPG trade;
  • representing a Korean corporation in the recognition and enforcement proceedings in Italy of a foreign court judgment related to claims arising from the sale of solar panels and construction of a solar plant in Italy;
  • representing an Italian joint venture in proceedings before the Italian courts to prevent the call on an on-demand bond in relation to a project for construction of a pharmaceutical facility in Northern Europe;
  • assisting firm’s partner, serving as sole arbitrator in an ASEAC arbitration, with drafting of procedural orders and arbitral award; and
  • assisting in the negotiation and drafting of an agreement for expert determination to quantify claims arising from the sale of a logistical hub.

  • Giuseppe has contributed articles to the International Construction Law Review, International Energy Law Review, and Kluwer Arbitration Blog on selected topics regarding construction law and dispute resolution. He also engages as coach and arbitrator for the Willem C. Vis Moot international competition for commercial arbitration.
